Well, actually this is a painting... Empire of Light, by Rene Magritte
I was reminded by Google that today would be the 110th birthday of Rene Magritte, the Belgian surrealist master, and one of my early influences. I wrote a term paper about Magritte, once.
I don't care for all of his work. Some of it can come off as cold or pessimistic, but a great deal of his images are humorous and playful, with an element of mystery that I think Chesterton might have appreciated.
Cool! It does look a bit like a photoshoped picture, especially when you are expecting something that's "Not a Painting".

LOL No it's a picture of a painting. I too was reminded by Google...which reminded me of the movie "Stranger than Fiction" which had several allusions to Magritte's work.

"LOL No it's a picture of a painting..."
Thanks... I was waiting for some sign that someone got the joke!

It's nice to see another Magritte fan. (But I do agree that some of his work isn't as good as the one that you chose.)
