The Aesthetic Elevator ponders the latest instance of the archetype of the youthful flash-in-the-pan prodigy in art. Wouldn't it be more humane to leave little kids out of the whole Flavor of the Month frenzy that seems to preoccupy the Pomegranate Martini crowd on the coasts?

And both bring to mind this monkey business.
Now, I'm not really comparing the girls to the monkey, I'm just saying that what the art world lunges after and applauds one day, it casts off the next. As TAE observes, in situations such as this, we find out far more about the art dealers and critics than we do about the art or the artists.
Quite frankly (and literally), a dog can paint better than either of the two!
