Shortcut to Mushrooms - 24" x 24" - Oil on Panel - $299 SOLD

This is a kind of project I have had in mind for some time. Though I love landscape, I'm more fascinated by small details, like the sun coming through these mushrooms. I have also always enjoyed the idea of large paintings of very small things. This one is only 24" x 24", but this still makes these mushrooms dozens of times larger than they are in nature. I'd love to do some truly BIG paintings of the same kind of subjects. Maybe 4' or larger.
I love the composition! I am, too, fascinated by small details. The BIG painting idea sounds exciting!

Beautiful!
You know, I think you have captured what may be the same impulse that leads you to art and me to science: what are the intricate, beautiful, God-made details of these little things? Perhaps it's the scientist in me, but I love your realistic attention to detail ... and, of course, the focus on tasty things like beer, wine, cheese, coffee, mushrooms...
When I am a Sackville-Baggins rather than a Gamgee I might commission one of those four-foot paintings indeed...
