Due to an unforseen financial bind, the patron to whom I originally thought to sell this piece has given the go ahead to put it up on the public auction block at Ebay.
The piece is oil and alkyd on wood panel, 16" x 16". For those who haven't kept up with the blog over the last few weeks, you can follow a record of the progress of the piece beginning here. It is in need of a couple of additional, hand-rubbed layers of clear alkyd, but after that should be ready to ship, to take its rightful place beautifying the wall of your home or office.
This still life depicts some objects I have in the studio, along with some peaches from a tree in my mom's back yard.
Would you mind answering a question I asked earlier and either missed or didn't get the answer to? What kind of wood is that panel made of?

Sorry, Bill, I've been sick for a while and I'm just now getting around to your question.
The panel is made of ordinary masonite, primed with gesso. I'm trying different methods of applying the gesso. I used to prime only the front of the panel, but have read that priming all over helps the panel maintain its stability better over time, so that is what I do now.
I cut most of my own panels, 1/8" masonite for small work, 1/4" for larger pieces.
HOWEVER... I'm thinking of working larger, again, so I may start using stretched linen at some point.
