I did some very subtle but important additional work on this piece, using clear glazes to add some richness and depth to the color. I don't know how much this will even show up on a photo processed through a monitor, but I thought I'd throw it out there, anyway.
The effect in person is quite dramatic, with the flesh tones looking much more lively, and some variation in the cool/dark areas.
Miraculously, there has been a slight reprieve in terms of the deadline for this show (due to some technical difficulties), so I may be able to finish another piece I wanted to do before that time (Monday, the 26th).
I love how this painting captures that age of trusting and innocence...while our children sleep safely in our care and know without question that mum and dad are in control...and while we look at these our children we sometimes want to 'capture' the moment and record it to memory....Tim, you are so gifted to have this talent where a fading memory will never prevent you from peeling away the years, and with that joyous, spine tingling intake of breath, looking upon these you paitings and remembering the various ages and stages of your children's 'growth' as if it were yesterday. Well done, and thank you for sharing.
