I naturally consider this beer-related news; a new study finds there is no scientific evidence that drinking more water carries any health benefits, at all. I get my water the old-fashioned way... there's plenty in beer and wine, plus other healthy stuff. Anyway, the water-drinking craze always struck me as kind of a throw back to turn-of-the-century health obsessions like cold swims and twice-weekly colonics.
In other beer news - I was unaware, or more likely had forgotten, that John McCain's wife (and possibly the next First Lady), Cindy McCain, is a wealthy Budweiser heiress. I try not to hold anyone's family history against them. People don't choose their families, after all.
The last presidential beer connection that I can remember was Billy Beer, named for and promoted by Jimmy Carter's brother, Billy, a fan of the barley. Apparently he preferred Pabst Blue Ribbon, though.
