It's like the evidence for life on Mars that gets discovered every few months.

Most science "news" is not all that interesting to the layman, so the mainstream outlets have to sensationalize it -- and usually end up giving it a headline that is not at all borne out by the actual discovery.

I just finished reading Fr. Stanley Jaki's book, "Chesterton: A Seer of Science."

The press believes in Scientism - a religion of absolute faith in Science. They report any interesting new conjecture as though Science has already settled the matter.

Scientism also assumes that all technological research is for the progress of mankind. When the Church warns that research which kills human embryos is unethical, we are said to be "anti-science," and someone will mention Galileo.
