Excessive drinking of water makes no sense, but of course dehydration puts stress on your body so that should be avoided too. And alchololic beverages of course dehydrate you more because of the effect on your kidneys.

Also remember that alcohol is a significant carcinogen. Of course so is half the stuff under the sun, but just the same you should keep things moderate, which in the case of alcholol probably means not using it as a regular, everyday beverage. Just like you wouldn't want to eat carred meat or coal-cooked bbq for dinner every day or sunbathe every day if you don't want cancer, but doing it occasionally isn't a real significant risk.

"Also remember that alcohol is a significant carcinogen. Of course so is half the stuff under the sun, but just the same you should keep things moderate..."

Right you are. Moderation in all things.

That's one that the human race has always had problems with, though. Seems like if it's not one poison, it's another.

Now that cigarettes have fallen from favor, it looks like many have chosen Death by French Fry.

Personally, I drink only on days ending with "y".

Ah, rules to live by, Tim. I only drink when I'm with someone or if I'm alone.

Is there a water-drinking craze? (Clearly, I need to watch more television...)

I like water. I'll drink as much as I want. I take it straight, or on the rocks.
